Vocal & cello tuition

Accessible vocal and cello training for all levels and genres, with a friendly and encouraging approach.

If you are a beginner struggling to find your voice and want to have fun singing your favourite music or want a more professional level of training I can help.

I also provide accessible cello tuition for beginner to intermediates. I place great importance on developing a true connection to the cello that is relaxed and focussed, developing a sound that you enjoy.

We will work to improve not only your general technique and quality but also your performance confidence, communication, leadership and directing.

I provide support leading up to performances and auditions. If you are looking to take exams, we can also discuss taking grades.

A free taster lesson is available for anyone wanting to give it a go before committing to classes.

Lessons can take place online, in person or from your home.

Luca has been my singing teacher for the past few months and I couldn't recommend them more! They have done really well at helping me improve my technique in a way that is tailored to me and my voice, and in a comfortable, fun environment. Luca is a very friendly, patient teacher who is very encouraging and a joy to see every session. Anyone would be lucky to have them as their singing teacher.” - Chanty Fuller

FAQs

Are you born a good singer?

No. Sorry.

Is everyone able to sing?

Yes.

Your voice is an instrument, just as much as a guitar, piano or cello. With regular practice you can develop your voice like you would an instrument.

Is the cello hard?

Yes, truthfully the cello is a difficult instrument for a beginner, it can feel like rubbing your stomach and patting your head in the initial stages. But with the right approach you can quickly find ways to enjoy the sound of the instrument without getting bogged down in technique.

I’m scared to sing/play in front of others.

That’s okay, it can be bloody terrifying!

I like to make our lessons fun to break down those anxieties so that we can come to realise that making sounds in front of other people isn’t really that scary.

can i do exams/grades?

I am happy to discuss taking exams or grades and selecting the exam board that works best for you.

Can I sing like Beyonce or Justin Timberlake?

Yes…if you want to.

I prioritise developing a deep connection to your sound, so that you can then sing and perform whatever kind of music you want, whether that’s Pop, Folk, R&B, Rap, Jazz or Classical. But it has to come from you first.

What is your approach to teaching?

I work from the basics, establishing a good technique with emphasis on connection to the sound or your instrument. I prioritise the enjoyment of your craft so that you can establish a healthy and enjoyable relationship with practice that isn’t too self critical or obsessive.

Finding peace with your practice enables you to progress further, achieve realistic goals and have the most fun!

Can I sing/ play any genre?

It is encouraged! Please bring or suggest any type of music you would like to play. As a musician you will soon learn that creative collaboration and an openness to new sounds is key to staying inspired and improving your skill set
